Memories, The Bluffs
Galiano Island, British Columbia
“Memories, The Bluffs” was inspired by a time away from Galiano Island and the deep longing I felt for the island. As I painted, I found myself drawn to the spiritual mystery of the island, the rhythms of wildness and joy in the clouds, and the extraordinary beauty of islands that seem untouched by human hands. But these memories felt greater than my own. They seemed to belong to the land itself — to the creatures that have lived here, the people who walked these shores long before me, and the countless generations of life woven into this remarkable place. In the end, I realized I wasn’t simply painting what I remembered of Galiano Island. I was trying to capture something of what Galiano itself remembers.
