Inspired by the misty mornings that curl around the Southern Gulf Islands and play hide and seek with the hills and valleys of this place we call home.
We come to Galiano…to sit at the feet of the forest and learn a new way of being. In this painting the child, as the meditator, is invited to learn the lessons of the forest. The light seeking arbutus shows the way. A young Douglas fir, suffering a loss of direction, through a storm, is now confidently moving in a new direction. The ancient Douglas fir has found a new purpose and beauty in serving as a home for forest creatures. The stump suffered a catastrophic loss, but it’s family, as Douglas firs sometimes do, decided to keep it alive. It has a beautiful smooth living top where it has healed from it’s wound.
The mists are like the future, so many good things are ahead for you, that you will soon see, as the mists of time gradually lift, revealing all that is in store for you.
